## Trademark & affiliation

**newt/ui** is an independent, open-source project, originally created by
[newt-max](https://github.com/newt-max) (see [`NOTICE`](https://github.com/wolfstar-project/newt-ui/blob/main/NOTICE)). It is
**not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially
connected with Discord Inc.**, or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates.

"Discord" and the Discord logo, wordmark, and Clyde mascot are trademarks of
Discord Inc. This project does not use, reproduce, or redistribute any of
Discord's logos, wordmarks, icons, or other copyrighted brand assets.

The name "Discord" is used in this project's documentation **solely in a
descriptive, nominative sense** — to describe the visual style (colors,
layout, component shapes) that newt/ui's components are inspired by, so that
developers can build interfaces that feel at home alongside Discord's client.
No use of the Discord name or any visual similarity is intended to suggest
sponsorship, certification, or approval by Discord Inc.

## Visual design

The colors, spacing values, and component shapes in newt/ui are based on
**publicly observable aspects of Discord's client UI** (e.g. its published
brand color palette) and are reimplemented from scratch as original CSS. No
Discord source code, stylesheets, or design files are copied or included in
this project.

If you are Discord Inc. (or represent Discord Inc.) and have concerns about
any content in this repository, please open an issue at
[github.com/wolfstar-project/newt-ui/issues](https://github.com/wolfstar-project/newt-ui/issues)
and we will review it promptly.

## Use of newt/ui in your projects

You are responsible for ensuring that **your own use** of newt/ui — including
any bot, application, or website you build with it — complies with
[Discord's Developer Terms of Service](https://discord.com/developers/docs/policies-and-agreements/developer-terms-of-service)
and [Discord's Brand Guidelines](https://discord.com/branding), where
applicable. In particular:

- Do not present your application as an official Discord product.
- Do not use Discord's logos, wordmarks, or other brand assets in your project
without Discord's permission, even if you're using newt/ui's components.
- "Discord-styled" or "Discord-inspired" is accurate framing for your own
projects too — avoid implying official status.
